My Dad is the Love and Light of the Lord Jesus Christ

Dad, you have always been there for me. You have never judged me, you have never said: “I told you so.”  You have always supported me in everything I have ever done. Dad, you have always had faith in me, even when I have lost my own faith in myself. Dad you taught me, how to face these problems and challenges with a positive attitude and a strong will and most of all you taught me to pray and read my Bible always and not to lean on my own understanding but allow God to direct my path.

I have watched and witnessed my dad’s character over a lifetime and the thing I see most of all in my dad is the love and light of the Lord Jesus Christ. My dad is strongly devoted to God, fiercely dedicated to his family, plentiful in love and compassion, generous in heart and soul, notorious for his kindness, tender hearted towards his grandchildren, a model husband and father, patient, loving, self-controlled, respectful, slow to anger, always smiling and funny, hard working, forgiving, and humble: that is my father.  Every ounce of credit for those traits belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ alone for the grace and love He’s bestowed upon my dad by His redeeming blood. If the Lord Jesus is the brilliant and majestic sun, then my dad is the moon – reflecting the Lord’s glory.  There is not a day that goes by that I do not pray for this man who has taught me to be strong and persevere. I respect my dad through his ability to endure, to face trials and defeats without giving up. My dad is a Godly man who has an unshakeable faith.

He loves people – all ages, sizes, backgrounds – it doesn’t matter to him if you are rich, poor, smell bad, or look good.  He has a heart for people. He gladly shares his faith in God in gentle ways and is constantly showing God’s love to people whenever he can.  His modesty will deny his greatness, but all that know him, know that he is a man who pursues God’s heart.  I’m thankful for my dad; my dad changed his family legacy. I am thankful to my dad for showing my husband and I the path to a Godly life and for cultivating in us a desire to know our Heavenly Father.

It’s wonderful having the assurance that our Heavenly Father truly loves us. He gives us a stability and peace that no other relationship can provide. And every day, I’m so grateful for having a dad who reminds me of my Heavenly Father’s love for me.  I could not have been given a more perfect man for a father, and I thank the Precious Lord above forever and ever for giving him to me.  Happy Father’s Day Dad!!!

What Makes a Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,

He called it … Dad
